Are You a Practical Dreamer?
Where Do Your Dreams Get Stuck?
from The Practical Dreamers Handbook
by Paul & Sarah Edwards

Dreams are, by nature, not practical. Practical has to do with what is; dreams have to do with what could be but isn’t yet. Yet bridging these two worlds, the actual and the desirable, is the practical dreamer’s challenge.

The practical dreamer is both the architect and the builder, creating what could be from     the reality of what is. So the practical dreamer must walk between two worlds, with one foot in the world of imagination, hopes, wishes, dreams, and possibilities and the other firmly planted in the world of physical reality with all its limitations of time, money, space, form, material and the needs of other people.

Can you walk between these worlds or do your dreams get stuck somewhere along the way? Take this quiz to see how far you get toward you dreams.

 1. Do you dare? Do you give yourself        permission to dream grand dreams? Or does  it seem like a waste to invest your time, money  and energy exploring seemingly impractical and  unrealistic ventures?

2.  Are you in touch with your desires? Do you know what you want in life? Or do you feel lost, wondering what you could do, should do or might do?

3.   Can you imagine? Can you envision your dream? Can you see it in your mind’s eye? Can you pretend it is real? Or do you have trouble imagining your life the way you’re like it to be?

4.   Can you believe? Are you convinced your dream is possible? Do you believe in your ability to create what you want? Can you debate your doubts and those of others? Or does your dream seem like an impossibility? Might it seem possible perhaps for others but not for you?

5.   Are you committed? Have you decided that you’re going to create your dreams, starting now, not someday, but today and every day for as long as it takes? Or are you still riding the fence, considering possibilities or waiting to “see what happens”?

6.   Are you connected? Can you allow your intuition to guide you to whatever you need to achieve you dreams? Or do you feel like you must have a step-by-step road map?

7.   Can you use your reality as a tool? Are you able to accept your existing reality and use whatever time, money or energy you have as a springboard for creating your dreams for the future? Or are you busy fighting and resenting your present situation, feeling convinced you don’t have the time, can’t find the money and don’t have the energy your dream requires?

8.   Can you feel satisfied?  Do you allow  yourself to savor the satisfaction of what you accomplish each step along the way? Or are you always driving yourself to do better and achieve more?

 9.  Can you move on?  Are you open when the time comes to new desires and new dreams and welcoming of what comes next? Or do you get stuck in pursing and maintaining past dreams, afraid to let go of what has been for what could be?
